A Combination of Career and Quality of Life in Northern California
Ideal California Location
Shasta County is located at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, equal distance between San Diego and Seattle, just 230 miles north of San Francisco and just 4 hours from the beach.
Outdoor Activities
There are a variety of water sports in Redding, from whitewater rafting on the Sacramento River to waterskiing, swimming, fishing and sailing on Shasta Lake, one of four magnificent manmade lakes in this northeastern California town. There are also plenty of land-based activities, like camping or hiking in the national forests and parks, following walking trails through the 220-acre arboretum or spending time exploring two fascinating parks: Shasta State Historic Park and Turtle Bay Exploration Park. In the winter, you can shred some powder at the famous Mt Shasta, the highest volcano in California and the ideal peak for mountaineering. The permanently snow-capped cone dominates the skyline of southern Oregon and northern California for hundreds of miles in any direction and is a mecca for California skiers and snowboarders.
Community Values
With mild California weather year-round in this small town (population 90,000), families enjoy Redding’ small community values. The Redding School district is excellent, offering several innovative, creative public and charter schools.
